I make money while I sleep, hike, and travel the world.
I just got “home” from spending eight months on the road for the third year in a row. Four of those months were in Patagonia, three in Europe, and one in Jordan. During that time I road tripped through Patagonia, hiked on volcanoes, kayaked in fjords, hosted three group trips on two continents, studied French in France, rode a bike across Austria, and checked Petra off my bucket list, just to name a few activities.
The most wonderful truth about my schedule is that all of these foreign adventures fall under the category of “work” for me. I have created this lifestyle. I am living my dream. I’ve been traveling for 15 years, and I’ve figured out how to align making money with my passion for travel, so that I don’t have to separate the two.
How did I build this?
The short answer is: a whole lot of learning, dedication and perseverance. This is not a get rich quick arena.
When I started the BMT blog exactly 5 years ago today (yep, today is my 5th blogiversary!), I read and heard more than once that it takes time to be successful in making money online, you won’t make money for 3-5 years, and if you want to be an overnight success, this is not the right business for you.
I wasn’t deterred. I was all in. I was willing to learn, study, invest, and commit to creating an income from blogging.
I listened to business podcasts, researched smart blogging techniques, studied passive income and online business, learned how to use WordPress, networked with people who knew more than me, went to conferences, watched YouTube videos, took online courses and more.
I dedicated myself to my goal and never looked back.
Five years later, that dedication and perseverance is paying off. Now, I get to make money while traveling the world doing what I love and sharing that with the audience that I built from scratch (that’s YOU!) 🙂
